History of the Foundation:
The Heavenly Ski Foundation became a non-profit corporation in 1985 to serve the community for educational and charitable purposes. It has since grown into a charitable organization to benefit amateur athletes in the winter disciplines of Alpine Ski Racing, Freestyle Moguls and Snowboarding. It is only through the financial assistance of fundraising efforts, community support and volunteers, that the Foundation is able to continue to offer its programs for the youth of South Lake Tahoe and other surrounding areas in both California and Nevada.
The Foundation's Mission:
The goal of the Foundation is to make it possible for every interested young athlete in the regional area to take advantage of the programs offered by its competitive ski and snowboard teams; as well as its middle school programs. The Foundation will provide a supportive and healthy environment to all levels of athletes regardless of economic background. We strive to assist these young athletes to advance not only athletically but socially and educationally as well. We encourage athletes to gain mental and physical self esteem, respect for others and good sportsmanship. Programs are provided for all levels of participation which allows for personal development beyond athletics. Athletes are assisted to prepare for participation various levels of competition including Tahoe League, U.S.A.S.A., Far West, U.S.S.A., Junior Olympics, U.S. Nationals and Nor-Ams.
